It didn’t surprise me when a warm breeze kissed my cheeks as I stepped outside. After all, my weather app did say it was going to be 60 degrees. And trust me when I say this, I’m not one to complain about the heat ever! But I question if mother nature got the memo that’s it February.

As I made my way to the first engagement session of the year, I thought back to the first time I met Katie and Eric. It was Fall of last year, and the smell of coffee beans flooded the air. When I walked in, I spotted the happy couple at the back of the coffee shop. Katie’s big welcoming smile put my heart at ease. Meeting people is always nerve wrecking, so I’m grateful when someone as friendly as Katie and Eric greets me with warm smiles. The connection I felt with the couple was instant, and I knew I wanted to learn more about them.

Luckily Katie and Eric felt the same about me that day. When I met the lovely couple again this weekend, I couldn’t help hopping on my feet while simultaneously waving my hands in the air. This time I greeted them with big hugs and smiles.

I always consider engagements like the first date, it’s a bit awkward at first but gets better as you go (well, for most cases). As we walked through the Longwood Garden’s green house talking about bridesmaids dresses, colors schemes — and of course — flowers I noticed the small connection between the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. While Katie expressed her excitement of wedding planning, Eric held her hand caressing it softly. And although Eric was a man of few words, I know it was because he was admiring the beauty who held his hand back. I was smiling like a goof during the whole session, and that’s because I can appreciate the little things. And it’s the little things that makes the biggest impact.

Katie and Eric, I’m so excited to be working together. Although the next time we see each other will be Fall of this year, I look forward to the day. Oh! And by the way, happy first year of your engagement!!!
