It’s no secret… This past year I was horrible with blogging. And why was that? That’s a good question! I often find myself asking that same question. It wasn’t until a attended a workshop that I realized I had no good excuse. So this weekend I sat down and tried to figure out what was different from last year and the year before. Here are some of the answers I came up with:
I’m not a writer. Although I enjoy reading a great book, my writing skills does not match the talented authors I admire. Don’t get me wrong, I can put sentences together. But my need to write better content overwhelms me at times, I either spend too much time writing a single post or erase it all together because of my lack of confidence. So in the end, I don’t share anything.
Writing about others can be difficult! If there is one thing I dislike it’s sounding robotic in my posts. Although ‘a picture is worth a thousand words‘, including an excerpt about my couples is important. Sure you can look at an image and see how happy and in love a couple is, but let’s talk about the story before the image, or the fight they fought to be together. I’m not a romantic sap for no reason, people! :)
My last reason is, time. Because I take so much time writing one post, I felt it was much more important to invest my time someplace else; such as getting images to my clients, answering e-mail, etc.
In the end, when I look at my reasons… they are excuses. All of the things I mentioned is something I can change. With a little more faith in my abilities and some self discipline, I can add blogging into my workflow.
I hope you are ready! This month I plan on blogging EVERY DAY until I catch up to current events.
